Sidecite is new, and Windows shows a “Windows protected your PC” notice for software it has not seen many people install yet. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

You do not have to take our word for what you got: the SHA-256 above is published for exactly this reason. That warning will fade as more people install it, and it goes away entirely once the app is code-signed.

Already have Sidecite? You probably don't need this.

Sidecite updates itself. When a new version is ready it tells you, downloads it in the background, and applies it the next time you restart the app. If you came here from an update prompt that could not finish, installing over the top is safe. Your transcripts, settings and sign-in are left alone.

Where it installs

Sidecite installs into your own user folder rather than Program Files. That is deliberate: it means the app can update itself without ever asking you for administrator rights, and nothing it does needs permission over the rest of the machine.

macOS and Linux

Both are in development and neither is downloadable yet. Sidecite leans hard on Windows-specific machinery: system audio capture, reading the screen, driving the keyboard. Every one of those has to be rebuilt rather than recompiled. macOS is first.
