Terms of Service

Effective 14 July 2026. These are the same terms Sidecite shows you on first launch.

1. What Sidecite is

Sidecite is a desktop meeting assistant. It transcribes meeting audio on your device and, when cloud features are enabled, surfaces live citations, teleprompter suggestions, and post-meeting summaries next to your video calls.

2. Your account

Cloud features require an account and an active subscription. You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity that happens under your account. The app also works signed out, in local-only mode, with on-device transcription and storage.

3. Recording consent is your responsibility

Depending on where you and other participants are located, recording or transcribing a conversation may legally require the consent of everyone on the call. You are solely responsible for obtaining any consent the law requires before using Sidecite in a meeting.

4. Your content stays on your device

Transcripts and summaries are stored only on this device. When cloud features are on, portions of your transcript are sent to our servers (and on to AI providers) to generate citations, suggestions, and summaries. That text is used transiently and never stored by us. Privacy mode disables all cloud processing. Deleting a meeting in the app permanently deletes it; we keep no copy.

5. Subscriptions & billing

Paid plans bill monthly through Stripe and include a set number of cloud-feature hours per month. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Canceling stops future renewals: you keep access through the end of the period you've paid for. All payments are final; we do not offer refunds, full or partial. Local features never depend on a subscription.

6. Acceptable use

Don't use Sidecite to break the law, to record people without required consent, to infringe others' rights, or to probe, overload, or disrupt the service. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or attempt to circumvent subscription checks.

7. AI output can be wrong

Transcription, citations, suggestions, and summaries are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. They are not legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. Verify anything important before relying on it or repeating it.

8. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

Sidecite is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits, or opportunities arising from your use of the app; our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

9. Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. If a change is material, the app will ask you to review and accept the new terms before they apply to you. Continued use after accepting an update means the updated terms govern.
